The world is watching. The lives of those who belong to God are like a letter which the world reads. Every day is another chapter.
"You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. You show that you are a letter from Christ" (2 Cor. 3:2, 3).
God gave his written Word, the Bible, to tell the world that he loves them. The lost of this world may never read the Bible.
More graciously yet, he gave even his own Son as the living Word to tell them on the cross. The world often rejects this Word of God as well.
And finally, he has sent us out into the world, to tell them yet again. We are a letter of love from God to the world.
But, oh, at what cost each of these letters is written! It cost Jesus his life and it costs us ours as well. For God writes his letter on each Christian's heart "not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts" (v. 3).
It is not a light thing to have the very Spirit of God press his finger into our soul and write upon it in spiritual language the things of God. To feel the touch of God in the deepest part of our being is to know what existence is all about: It is about having an intimate relationship with God in Jesus Christ. That is the message we are to bring to the world--at the cost of our souls--surrendered to the Spirit of God to mold and shape into form fit for this very purpose.
Scripture for today: 2 Cor. 3:1-3
Thought for today: I am a letter from God to this world.
Prayer for today: Lord, write on my heart a message of love to carry to this world.
