I AM. That is the foundational message that God declares through the existence of the universe, as well as through all of history which he controls to that same end, a declaration of his existence and authority.
The play has been written, the stage set. But where are the actors? Who will make this play come alive? And for whom? Who are the spectators? Who will watch this drama being performed?
The answers to the two questions of who the actors are and who the audience is are astounding, for according to God's Word, you and I and all other human beings are the actors, and we are performing our parts before an audience of invisible beings, angels and demons, who watch us from the heavenly balconies and the pit.
Many people are unaware of the great significance their life has in the grand drama. Many are unaware that there even is an overall story being played out beyond their own lives. But the Bible clearly states that a person's life is not his own (1 Cor. 6:19).
What happens in a person's life is part of the fulfillment of the eternal plan of God for the existence of all things. If a person should ever wonder why the things which happen to him or her during life happen, that person should reflect on the truth that all the events of a person's life are meant to be part of the divine drama.
"These things happened to them as examples" (1 Cor. 10:11).
Examples are not ends in themselves. Our lives are examples to others and not ends in themselves.
Scripture for today: 1 Cor. 10:11
Thought for today: My life is an example. Is it a good one?
Prayer for today: Make my life a good example, Lord, not a bad one.
