There are those who reject their assigned role in God's great drama.

"But the Pharisees and experts in the law rejected God's purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John" (Lk. 7:30).

God has a purpose for each one of us whom he has created. We are assured over and over again in Scripture that this purpose is a high purpose and that he has nothing but goodness in mind for us.

But this goodness is contingent upon our accepting that goodness and the role he has purposed for us to play in his great drama. We are free to accept or reject our role and his goodness. We reject this role and God's purpose for us only at our own peril and expense.

"Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs" (Jonah 2:8).

Scripture for today: Jonah (entire book)
Thought for today: I am free to accept or reject God's role for me in life. I reject it at the cost of my very soul.
Prayer for today: Lord, I ask you to grant me wisdom to see that it is for my own good and welfare that you have assigned to me the unique role I have in life, your great drama. I surrender to your superior wisdom and your great love for me, and accept the role you have given me. Thank you, Lord. Amen
