Surrendering our lives to God in Christ as a means for God to communicate his eternal message to the rest of the world--and beyond--is not, as some seem to think, a heavy, burdensome task but a freeing, truly awesome honor. Imagine: The God of the universe allows me the privilege of being part of his wonderful plan and drama! Such an incredible opportunity comes but once in a lifetime--literally. You and I will never again have the chance to accept or reject our parts and participation in the divine drama.

Death removes forever the one chance to perform, to act, to
do--to live. It is wise, therefore, not to waste this singular offer from God. If we accept our parts in the play, we will find in the end that we will have a larger part to play in the new realm that lies beyond the grave. How comforting and satisfying to know that after a life lived here on earth seeking to perform our role with all that is within us, yet by the grace of God, we shall hear the same words that Daniel heard after he was found faithful:

"Go your way till the end. You shall rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance" (Dan. 12:13).

Scripture for today: Daniel 12
Thought for today: My part in God's drama is not over when my life on earth is over; it continues into a larger play in the next realm.
Prayer for today: I look forward to new scenes in your next production, Lord. How wonderful your scripts for me are!
