Paul clearly stated that the rulers of this age of evil in the world did not understand the nature of what they were doing when they crucified the Son of God on a cross. But neither can any of us understand the unfathomable goodness of what God has given us through that sacrifice. Understand it? He says that we cannot even conceive of it, so great is it in wonder and grace.
"No eye has seen, nor ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" (1 Cor. 2:9).
The things of God are so great and so beyond not only our comprehension but even our power to conceive of them, that it is arrogance in the extreme for the religions of this world to claim that they do indeed know. Only the revelation of God in his Son Jesus Christ is able to reveal this to us.
And notice again the reference to all of this having been prepared beforehand by God. The crucifixion was no surprise to him; neither is anything else that has transpired since the world began. All is known beforehand to God--or else he would not be God.
But notice also that all the goodness that God has prepared is prepared only for those who love him. Those who follow some other way will never know what could have been theirs. For there is only one Way that all that comes from God can be had, and that one Way is in Jesus Christ.
Scripture for today: Acts 4:12
Thought for today: Jesus is the only Way to God.
Prayer for today: Lord, I praise you for being the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
