We do not know the needs of our own hearts, as I found out in that prayer session where the Spirit interceded for me, not only in groans too deep for words but also in actual words. I knew what I/He was saying; I just didn't know that I would say it. But I was open to the Spirit's working within my heart. Are you?
What would you say is your own attitude toward letting the Spirit of God have free access to all the areas of your heart? The seventh chapter of John is where Jesus speaks of the Holy Spirit flowing out from a believer's heart like water in a stream, bringing life to others.
But first it must bring life to that person's own heart. Life and love are two of the mainstays of the Holy Spirit's work within the believer's heart. When a believer surrenders his or her heart totally to the Lord, the Spirit then has the freedom to bring about the needed changes
that only He knows about.
I was unaware of my own deep need for more knowledge about love and more experience in what it actually is and how it operates. All I knew was that I wanted a deeper experience of God in my life.
Is that your desire as well? Then tell God so--and be prepared for your own surprising encounters with the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Love.
Scripture for today: John 7:37-39
Thought for today: The Spirit of the Lord is to flow out from me to others.
Prayer for today: Thank you, Jesus, for the promise of the life-giving Spirit flowing from me out to others. What a precious privilege and honor this is that you give to those who believe in you. Amen.
