When the prisoner challenged the right of God to have us worship him, I immediately prayed silently for God himself to give me the words I needed to tell this person the truth in a way that he could understand. What I said was something like this: No, I do not think it is arrogant of God. He is God and he is worthy to be worshipped. Nothing or no one else is. And he is worthy of this worship because he made you. Because he made you, he owns you.

I wish I had said more. I wish had made it clearer. There isso much more that could be said and should be said about this. But I said what I thought was appropriate for the moment -- and a moment was all I had, then it was gone.

If I had had time, and if the circumstances would have been different, circumstances which would have allowed a fuller explanation, I would have launched into a vigorous explanation of this matter. For, as all who know God will appreciate, once you encounter the awesome reality of God and get to know him, nothing else matters. He is everything to you and most surely worthy to be worshipped.

"To whom, then, will you compare God? What image will you compare him to?" (Is. 40:18).

"'To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?' says the Holy One" (Is. 40:25).

Yes, the Holy One of Israel is worthy of my worship.

Scripture for today: Isaiah 40
Thought for today: God is worthy to be worshipped.
Prayer for today: Lord God, I worship you.
