Just as virtual reality is gaining in popularity in our modern world, so is the New Age religion and other such outlooks on reality which deify self. Apply the same test mentioned in Isaiah to this outlook on reality; in other words, compare yourself to God. See which outlook stacks up against reality.

God is eternal. He has always existed. There was never a "time" when he did not exist. Can you say that? No? Then you must not be God.

God has created all else that exists. And he did it simply by speaking. And he created it out of nothing. Can you do that? No? Then you must not be God.

In fact, we can create nothing. Everything we say that we create we create, in reality, only by transforming something from pre-existing materials.

God will never die, because he is eternal and has the power within himself to continue to exist forever. Can you do that -- never die? No? Then you are not God.

God is holy. He never lies, never is in any way untrue to himself or reality. Can you be so perfectly consistent in your own nature? No? Then . . . .

You are not God and you will never be God. But you can live in his presence forever and know a unity with him that is beyond comprehension in Jesus Christ.

Scripture for today: John 17:2-26
Thought for today: I am not God. God is God.
Prayer for today: God, I freely acknowledge you as the one true God. Forgive me for any times I have foolishly tried to replace you with myself.
