God, by definition, is eternal. He had no beginning. You did. Therefore, by definition, you are not God.
Neither can you become God. That which had a beginning in space and time cannot become that which has existed for ever beyond the constraints of space and time. That is a logical impossibility. That is nonsense. It makes no sense either in logic or language.
Those who think to make it otherwise always resort to sophistry and the twisting of language to try to show how the impossible can be made possible. This they must do because the reality of logic and language must somehow be done away with in order for them to proceed on their impossible quest.
Such are those who refuse to accept reality and try to bend it to their own twisted desires -- the oldest of these being the impossible desire to be or become God.
This wrong desire was the downfall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Because they pursued an alternate reality than the one in which God placed them (that he alone is God and they are not), they lost the firmness of their association with that reality and were forced to live in a much more painful reality, separated from God, banished from the paradise of God on earth that was Eden.
You and I suffer from the effects of this choice to live in a false reality, and that same choice is offered to us every day. If we choose as they did, we too will suffer the consequences of our choice. But if we choose the true reality that is in Christ, we will live in the true reality of God.
Scripture for today: Genesis 3
Thought for today: We are free to choose the reality of sin or the reality of forgiveness of sin in Christ.
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to choose wisely each day which reality I will live in.
