Weeping such as Peter experienced in his denial of Christ is not mere tears that come from having had the emotions touched. It is great, heaving sobs from having had the depths of one's very being revealed. It is the intense writhing of the very soul, because that soul has been exposed for what it really is. The eyes of Jesus have looked upon it -- and now the truth is known.
It is in God's Word, when we read the Bible, that we most often have the eyes of God search our hearts. The one who knows Christ has the Spirit of Christ within him, and that Spirit searches the heart whenever the Scriptures are read, for that Spirit wrote those Scriptures and He responds at the sound of his own heart's outpouring.
"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account" (Heb. 4:13).
We must give account of ourselves to Jesus. He does not have to give account of himself to us. When Pilate questioned him, sometimes Jesus answered and other times he remained silent. He is God. He does not have to give account of himself to any man. Jesus holds himself accountable only to the Father. We are accountable to Jesus, as unto the Father, for the Father has given all judgment to Jesus.
Scripture for today: John 5:22
Thought for today: Jesus is the judge of my heart.
Prayer for today: Look upon my heart, Jesus, and judge it--and then have mercy and change my heart to be like yours.
