God has given us the very great privilege of managing our soul until he comes to claim it; as was said earlier, we are simply tenants of our soul. Many do not realize this truth, and therefore, when Jesus comes and stands before them, knocking at the door to their heart or soul (Rev. 3:20), they come face to face with a reality they did not know existed. Then they are faced with a choice. They can let Jesus in as the Lord and Master of that soul, or, as we saw in the case of Pilate, they will turn Jesus over to be killed by the mob of the world (Mt. 21:38).

Part of God's glory is the human soul, which he created to share in that glory. Originally, it was a full partaker of that glory in the Garden of Eden. But that glory was ruined by the fall into sin effected by Adam and Eve. Jesus came by way of another garden, that of Gethsemane, to redeem and restore that soul and its glory.

"A ruin! A ruin! I will make it a ruin! It will not be restoreduntil he comes to whom it rightfully belongs; to him I will give it" (Ezek. 21:27).

The One to whom our soul rightfully belongs has come, and he has restored our souls to their rightful relationship to their Maker. In Jesus, my soul is restored to God.

Scripture for today: Ezekiel 21:27
Thought for today: Jesus restores my soul.
Prayer for today: Thank you, Jesus, for restoring my soul.
