December 25 is celebrated as the day Christ was born. Some scholars believe that this celebration is inaccurate regarding the date of Christ's birth. They base this conclusion on signs in Scripture itself that point to a birth in the fall of the year rather than December 25.
Why, then, if this is true, has God allowed his people to celebrate such an important event in his eternal plan on the wrong date? Isn't he God? He could have made sure that the correct date was preserved down through the centuries. Now the world can ridicule this lack of power and accuracy.
It is possible that God's power is seen even more this way. For if it is indeed true that Jesus was born around Sept. 25, nine months earlier, rather than Dec. 25, then that would make what is celebrated on our current Christmas day not his birth but his conception. And what does this tell a world that kills millions of unborn infants every year in the womb through abortion?
If it is true that Jesus was conceived on Dec. 25, rather than born, then Christmas is a reminder every year from God that life begins at conception. Millions of Christians all over the world celebrate the beginning of the life of Jesus by marking THAT day as one marking his actual beginning of life, not the day of his birth.
The ways of God are not the ways of man.
Scripture for today: Isaiah 55:8, 9
Thought for today: Life begins when the spirit of life comes to a child from God.
Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, I celebrate the beginning of your life here on earth in your mother's womb and thank you for the life you gave to me as well.
