God informs us in his Word that this entire world is passing away, losing its present form (1 Cor. 7:31). The new world is coming.
But before that final day arrives, when the kingdom of God replaces this present world, we often see those who oppose this kingdom seemingly succeed in living lives apart from God. We should not be discouraged. Their plans may seem to succeed for a while, but God has already pronounced judgment on them.
"Though on the day you set them out, you make them grow, and on the morning when you plant them, you bring them to bud, yet the harvest will be as nothing in the day of disease and incurable pain" (Isaiah 17:11).
There is no harvest, no final gain for the unbeliever. All is lost in the day of death. That is the final harvest for those apart from God: They will remain apart from God forever. Far better to build one's house, one's life, upon the rock that is Jesus. All that is built on him will endure forever.
All that has been said about what is lost or what is kept for eternity can be summed up in the words of Psalm 127:1:
"Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain."
Scripture for today: Psalm 127:1
Thought for today: Jesus is the difference between losing and keeping.
Prayer for today: Thank you, Jesus, for enabling me to keep my life by giving it to you.
