The mind of Christ sees reality perfectly. It sees the purposes which God has in mind for all that exists, including the purpose for the life of each individual human life and the purpose for all existence as a whole. We all need such vision; we all need the mind of Christ.Scripture itself tells us this:
"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ" (Philippians 2:5).
What was this attitude of Jesus that we are to have as well? That passage then goes on to describe it, listing the humbling of himself that Jesus performed in order to come down from heaven to do the Father's will.
You and I are called to do the Father's will just as much as his Son. Therefore, we need the mind of Christ to have the same vision and same purpose which he had.
We need the mind of Christ to think as we are to think, to not think more highly of ourselves than we should and to honor God as God.
We need the mind of Christ to enable us to understand our place in God's plan. We need the mind of Christ so that we can understand the depths of God's own heart and mind -- the promise we have through the Holy Spirit, as we have seen in 1 Cor. 2.
These are two of the major truths that are revealed in that deep chapter, that we have both the mind of Christ and the Spirit of God to enable us to experience and understand the depths of God.
Scripture for today: 1 Cor. 2:16
Thought for today: I have the mind of Christ. I have the Spirit of God.
Prayer for today: Lord, I am overwhelmed that you should favor me with the best of the very depths of your being. Such is the grace and love that you have lavished on me, and I thank you and praise you for this.
