It is natural for us as human beings made aware of our sinfulness by the Word of God in us to shrink back and think that we can never do anything for God. We can't. But God can. In fact, only he can do what he has called us to do. That is why we need Jesus in us, so that we can do what he has called us to do.

Jesus is God himself and only he can do what God calls us to do. But we have Jesus, and so we can do it. Our weaknesses are turned into opportunities for God to show his saving strength. God's power to do this is made perfect in our weaknesses (2 Cor. 12:9).

But that should be not be interpreted to mean that we should just throw up our hands and therefore conclude that since God's power is made perfect in my weaknesses, that I should not strive to overcome my sinful weaknesses. Should I continue to give in to sin, simply because I know God forgives sin? Of course not. Or as Romans 6:15 puts it, "By no means!" Recognizing our weakness is not the same as condoning it.

We are to strive to become fit vessels for use in the Father's house. We simply recognize both our own unworthiness and His faithfulness in cleansing us if we will submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Scripture for today: Romans 6:15-23; 2 Cor. 12:9
Thought for today: My weakness is not meant to be an excuse to continue to abide in it.
Prayer for today: Lord, continue to change me, changing my weaknesses into your strengths. May I never excuse my laziness or sin by cheapening the costly sacrifice you made on the cross to get rid of sin in my life.
