"A voice says, 'Cry out!'" (Isaiah 40:6)
Just like Ezekiel and Isaiah, we are commanded by God to cry out to the spiritually dead people of this world. But what are we to cry out to them? That is a natural question, and Isaiah naturally asked it: "And I said, 'What shall I cry?'" (v. 6).
God's answer is that we are to tell a dead world that life is to be found in him and in his Son:
"Lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say . . . 'Here is your God!'" (v. 9).
We are to tell the world that this is the God who "gives breath to people, and life to those who walk on (the earth)" (Is. 42:5).
Our word to the world is to be the message of hope and life in Jesus Christ.
Scripture for today: Ezekiel 37:1-8
Thought for today: We have the same call that Ezekiel and Isaiah had.
Prayer for today: Help me, Lord, to be obedient to your calling on my life, even as Ezekiel and Isaiah were.
