What a hopeless task. How can dead people ever understand the message of salvation? Only through the power of the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit's working within them, the dead will come back to life -- just as it was the Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead:

"If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you." (Romans 8:11)

We do not have to worry about whether or not we can make those to whom we witness about Christ come alive in him: We can't. But God can. To those who hear the life-giving word of the Lord and accept it, "this is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones:

'I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life . . . I will put breath in you, and you will come to life" (Ez 37:5,6).

Prayer for today: Help me, Lord, to experience the fullness of the life in Christ and to pass that fullness on to others.
