What will be the final result of the clash of the two armies mentioned in Ezekiel, Isaiah, Joel, Revelation, and other books of the Bible? Since God is almighty, there is no question about the outcome: It has been decided from all eternity. God not only will win, he has already won, for he is all powerful and nothing can withstand his power. What he has done is allow the forces of evil to make their attempt to defeat him in the time framework of the reality in which we live.
But God lives in eternity and has all power, and the issue has been decided from all eternity. There has never been a question regarding the outcome at all, only a permission from God to allow the battle to take place so that he can receive glory from his victory, and also to instruct all those whom he created in the truth of his might and wisdom.
Both Joel and Jesus mention a great banquet for those who fought in the battle on the side of the Lord.
"You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you" (Joel 2:26).
There is a reward for those who fight faithfully in God's battle with the enemy.
Scripture for today: Joel 2:21-27
Thought for today: To the victor go the spoils.
Prayer for today: Lord God, I look forward to the great banquet you have prepared for all those who fight faithfully in your army. Make me worthy to be such a one.
