David knew the joy of having a personal relationship with the personal God of the Bible. In Psalm 31:14, he says to God, "You are my God."

My
God. Not a statement simply of personal choice of choosing this god over that god, but of having a personal relationship that enables him to say that this is my God, with whom I can form a personal relationship: the me of myself relating to the being of this God.

God replies to such as follow David's example of establishing and maintaining a personal relationship with God, and he replies in kind, voicing the personal nature of that relationship on his part as well:

"I am God, your God" (Psalm 50:7).

Your God.

God is a being and he created us as beings that can relate to him. We are made in his image. All of life reflects this basic truth. All the most important aspects of life have to do with relationships. All else is there to support this most basic and universal aspect of reality.

Reality is not simply a set of facts or truths. It is a personal experience of those truths in the heart of all who live in that reality. And the greatest part of that experience comes when the greatest One in that reality is experienced personally.

Scripture for today: Hebrews 2:11-18
Thought for today: God is the person of Jesus Christ.
Prayer for today: Thank you, Jesus, for becoming one of us so
that I could know God personally.
