But what will you do in the end?

These chilling words of God from Jeremiah 5:31 are words that are well worth recalling over and over again as we scurry around in our busy daily lives. What is it that so occupies our attention and time that we must always be so busy? Just how important are all these things that demand Will they last? When we approach our day of death, will they seem so important then?

All these questions are worth asking ourselves whenever we find ourselves rushed and pressed about for time and attention. If we occupy ourselves too much with the things of this world, then we have no time for meditating on why God has allowed us this time here: It is preparation for something bigger and better.

If our focus is solely on this world and what we can enjoy here, what are we going to do when this world ends? For Scripture has declared that it will end. And so let us pause for a moment right now and ask ourselves this question from Scripture: But what will you do in the end?

Scripture for today: 1 Cor. 7:29-31
Thought for today: The form of this world is passing away.
Prayer for today: Keep me ever mindful, Lord, that my heart is not to be in this world but in the next, focused on you and your kingdom, not me and my kingdom in this world.
