Do you want the truth? How much do you want it? How much do you want to know the truth about yourself -- and be set free from yourself? How much do you love the truth? The answer can be seen in how much you love Jesus -- or how far away from him you seek to be, so that you will not have to face the reality he has shown you about yourself.

How does Jesus show you the reality about yourself? It does not take a lot of words -- no words at all, in fact. All it takes is a single glance from those piercing eyes. When you come face to face with Jesus, one look from him is all it takes for reality to pierce the mask of deception and illusion we wear to protect ourselves from the truth of who we are.

Simon Peter experienced this. Jesus predicted that he, Simon Peter, would deny three times that he even knew Jesus. But Simon was so sure of who he was that he protested vigorously that he would never do any such thing.

But he did--that very night. And then, without a single word, Jesus simply looked at him -- and instantly, Simon Peter saw who he really was. Reality came crashing down upon him, destroying the facade he had built up about himself.

"The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter . . . (and Peter) went outside and wept bitterly" (Luke 22:61, 62).

Scripture for today: Luke 22:61,62
Thought for today: Jesus sees my heart.
Prayer for today: Look upon my heart, Jesus, and remove anything there that is not of you.
