In the final, great judgment of God, the book of every person's life is opened and read. This knowledge should make us tremble in fear. Who wants others to know the dirty secrets and sin that every one of us has had in our lives?
The good news is that the blood of Jesus wipes out the record of sin in our life. If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin, and the blood of Jesus Christ wipes away the sin from the book that is our life (1 John 1:9). When it is opened in heaven on that great day of judgment, that page will be clean.
We may be writing a book by living out our lives in this world, a chapter a day. But God is writing a book as well.
"Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name. 'They will be mine,' says the Lord Almighty, 'in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him. And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not'" (Malachi 3:16-18).
Scripture for today: Malachi 3
Thought for today: When I speak, God hears. My words are in his book.
Prayer for today: Lord, may I never be ashamed of the words I speak.
