How honest are you with yourself? Do you wear any masks to keep people from finding out who you really are? Are you afraid of reality -- and your real self? Or are you willing to accept it -- and yourself -- just as it is?

You should not fear the reality of having yourself be exposed to the light. Every person will have this happen to him or her at some time in eternity. Better to submit to it now rather than later in the final judgment. Now you can do something about what is revealed about yourself; then it will be too late.

"Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed upon the housetops" (Luke 12:2,3 RSV).

In the final judgment, the light of the glory of God shines without hindrance, penetrating completely to the very depths of every human soul. All is exposed. All the curtains that veil the perfect view of reality from us are finally removed. We should look forward to this great unveiling, not seek to runaway from it. To know the light, to know the truth about God and ourselves, is liberating, not condemning. Jesus said he came into the world to save it, not to condemn it (John 3:17).

Open yourself up to God's light. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you anything that needs revealing and healing in your heart.

Scripture for today: 2 Cor. 6:11-13
Thought for today: The open heart is a vulnerable heart -- vulnerable to receive the blessings of God.
Prayer for today: I open my heart to you, Holy Spirit. Show me what I need to know about myself and God.
