Notice one other thing about Ezekiel's description of what he saw in the valley. He said that "it was full of bones."
Many, many people fit Jesus' description of dead men walking. Outwardly, the world may think that they are OK-kind of people, even religious; but inside they have no living relationship with God and they are spiritually dead. Thus the valley of this world is full of dead bones.
"He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry" (Ezek. 37:2).
It often takes more than a single, eye-opening moment in our lives for God to reach us. He may have to lead us, like Ezekiel, back and forth among the empty lives of the people of this world, or perhaps allow us to go day by day back and forth among the dead, empty portions of our own lives before we are ready to see what he wants to show us.
Scripture for today: Ezekiel 37:1-8
Thought for today: It takes time to see as God sees.
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to see what you want me to see. May I not have to wander back and forth in trying situations to see what I need to see. Open my eyes quickly, and open my heart to receive what you want me to see.
