Now, you may think it unfair of God and unfair to Job that God would allow catastrophes into his life to teach someone else a lesson. And especially you may object that this is true of you and your own life as well.
But remember those lessons from 2 Cor. 3 (April series), how we are all living letters from God to the world? You and I and Job claim that we are God's chosen people because we are in Christ. Well, part of being chosen means that we have been chosen to suffer with Christ, so that, just as his suffering served God's purpose for bringing salvation to the world, so does ours. Not that we can save the world, but we can participate in Christ's saving the world when we suffer with him. 1 Peter 4 and 5 have much to say about this.
Are you willing to be a part of this magnificent plan which may include suffering on your part, of which you may have no clue as to why it has happened to you? Are you willing to say from the heart, "O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter" (Is. 64:8).
Scripture for today: 1 Peter 4, 5
Thought for today: It is an honor to be chosen to suffer for the name of Jesus.
Prayer for today: Grant me faith in you and love for you, Lord, so that I may never back away from suffering for you.
